Our growing team at AVD is fiercely passionate about design. While every individual brings a unique aesthetic to the office, we all share the same passion for collaboration and exceeding our clients’ expectations.

  • PRINCIPAL & CREATIVE DIRECTOR

    Alykhan Velji has taken his boutique design firm and turned it into a lifestyle brand. Celebrating almost 20 years in the design business, him and his team have brought an energetic flavour to the Canadian design scene. Known as a master of mixing design styles, patterns, and textures, he loves to add a hint of the unexpected to each of his projects, ensuring that each design is personalized, goes beyond current trends, and stands the test of time.

    Aly is also a familiar face in the Canadian television industry and has been featured in countless national and international publications, including AD India, Dezeen, Domino, House and Home, WL, Style at Home, and The Globe and Mail (to name a few). He has also received numerous awards for his designs, most recently being listed as one of Canada’s Top 100 Design Firms by House and Home Magazine (2024).

    Building this lifestyle brand has included several successful collaborations including the AFERA rug collection (2014), the SALVAGED reclaimed wood furniture collection (2016), the Modern India furniture collection with Canadian retailer Moblia (2019), the Wanderlust furniture collection with Urban Barn (2023), and two wallpaper collections with Canada’s Roll Out.

    His belief that good design should be accessible to all and that motto goes into everything he creates.

  • DESIGN DIRECTOR (B.I.D, B.A.TECH)

    Alison completed her Bachelor of Interior Design degree through Yorkville University and a Bachelor of Applied Technology from Conestoga College in 2013. Her love of travel and experiencing new places inspires her broad sense of design. She loves to mix different design styles to create eclectic, energetic and surprising interiors. Alison grew up in Cottage Country in Northern Ontario and she remains a lover of the outdoors, especially being near (or in) the water.

  • INTERIOR DESIGNER (B.I.D.)

    Megan was born in Winnipeg but has spent most of her life in Calgary, making her an amazing source for recommendations on the city’s best coffee, top new places to dine, and of course design shops to browse. She is constantly taking inspiration from her surroundings and loves mixing patterns, textures and tones to create unique designs – ones that bring families together. When she’s not nose-down in client work she’s more than happy to share her take on what’s brewing on her favourite reality show: Love Island.

  • INTERIOR DESIGNER (B.I.D.)

    Earning both a Diploma in Business Administration from Regina and an Interior Design Degree from Mount Royal University, Rebecca combines her analytical and artistic sides to design functionally beautiful spaces. She loves to create inviting rooms that are often inspired by the colours and textures she sees in nature – either from her travels to Ireland and Scotland, or regular outings with her beloved Papillon, Emmy.

  • INTERN DESIGNER

    Alyssa joined the AVD team in 2024 after completing both the Interior Decorating and Kitchen & Bath programs at Bow Valley College. From a young age she has been captivated by the transformative powers of design and is excited when a tangible impact can be made on people’s lives through beautiful, functional designs.

    One of those rare, born and raised Calgarian, Alyssa loves the city for its urban lifestyle, close proximity to nature, and abundance of Pickleball courts.

  • INTERIOR DESIGNER

    Anjali Gohil-Desai joined the AVD team in 2024. Originally from Surat, also known as “The Silk City” of Western India, Anjali found her passion for design with the help of her dynamic mother - a talented singer and events manager who always encouraged her creatively. Anjali completed her design training at CEPT University in Ahmedabad before moving to Canada and calling Calgary home - a decision largely based on her love of the mountains. In addition to exploring the Rockies, Anjali also enjoys the colourful world of anime film and spending time with her pup, Muffin.
